Just a week ago Cape Town homebrewers got all excited about the launch of a brand new homebrew supply store, meaning our choices just got better and prices more competitive. Now South African homebrewers just got spoiled again with yet another addition to our fast expanding homebrew hobby, BeerLab.
BeerLab is South Africa’s newest homebrew supply store, catering to brewers of all levels, offering homebrewers everything from beer kits to all-grain ingredients and equipment.
For a store that just started up BeerLab has a very good range of ingredients and equipment already available, and the owner Lynnae Endersby says they will also be sourcing equipment for brewers who wants to experiment with water chemistry and yeast culturing soon. Her aim at BeerLab is to offer the local homebrewers with all the hard to source items from all over the world.
BeerLab will also soon be hiring out large pots, immersion chillers and all other sorts of brewing equipment to those that want to start brewing but do not have all the equipment yet.
Yesterday I set out to give BeerLab a try and ordered some ingredients I probably did not need, but wanted to stock up on. Three things immediately stood out to me after I completed the transaction. The service was absolutely fantastic, literally minutes after I placed an order and did a payment, I got a mail from Lynnae asking when I would like my order delivered, I told her the next day would be fine and was promised delivery the next day at 11AM. BeerLab’s prices is another plus point here, they come in way cheaper than some of the other local Cape Town shops, and even beat the Johannesburg shops, making them the cheapest shop currently in South Africa. And the final thing that convinced me was the fact that they offer great shipping options at cheap prices. No more paying R100 to ship a bag 2.5Kg malt via post office from Johannesburg, BeerLab makes use of Couriers ensuring that your orders gets delivered to your door at the fraction of the price some of the other stores charge.
BeerLab is also running a opening special for Capetonians, till the 7th of July 2012, BeerLab will deliver orders for free within 25Km radius of Cape Town CBD.
Although BeerLab selection is good for a hombrew supply store that just started up, I would like to see their inventory grow with more types of malt, hops and equipment, but I am sure this is in the pipeline for the very near future.
Go check out BeerLab for your next brewday supplies.
